Stability requirements for floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) during assembly and temporary phases: Overview and application

open access: yesOcean Engineering, 2014
The renewable energy targets set by the EU governments is pushing the wind industry toward deeper and further sites, making the floating option the preferred technical and economic choice. Certification authorities are developing new guidelines, recommended practices and standard specific for this industry, starting to recognize the importance, beside ...

Structural health monitoring for TLP-FOWT (floating offshore wind turbine) tendon using sensors

Applied Ocean Research, 2021
Abstracts In this paper, a new algorithm for the real-time structural health monitoring of TLP (tension-leg platform) tendons is presented. The algorithm is based on bi-axial sensors installed along the tendon and top tension-meter. Then, the tension and bending moment along the line can be estimated by using the developed algorithm.

A semi-analytical hydrodynamic model for floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) with application to a FOWT heave plate tuned mass damper

Ocean Engineering, 2023
This paper proposes a semi-analytical MacCamy–Fuchs–Morison (MFM) hybrid hydrodynamic model for very efficient simulations of FOWT responses without resorting to potential flow solvers. First, closed-form expressions of the 6-by-6 added mass matrix and 6-dimensional complex wave load transfer function are derived based on the Morison equation ...
