Floating platform effects on power generation in spar and semisubmersible wind turbines
The design and financing of commercial‐scale floating offshore wind projects require a better understanding of how power generation differs between newer floating turbines and well‐established fixed‐bottom turbines.

Numerical Simulation on Aerodynamics of Multi-Element Airfoil with Drooped Spoiler in Ground Effect
By using the finite volume method and k-ω SST turbulence model to solve the Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes equation and using the slipping wall to simulate the relative movement of the ground, the ground effect on the aerodynamic characteristic of multi ...

Modeling and control of a floating platform
A platform with a rotating crane resting on three adjustable floats in a tub has been built on laboratory scale. Controller design is studied to prevent the platform from leaning due to crane movements. The system dynamics can be described primarily by a simple sixth order linear model.

Damping analysis of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs): a new control strategy reducing the platform vibrations [PDF]
In this paper, the coupled dynamics of the floating platform and the wind turbine rotor are analyzed. In particular, the damping is explicitly derived from the coupled equations of the rotor and floating platform. The analysis of the damping leads to the

Vibration Mitigation of the Barge-Type Offshore Wind Turbine with a Tuned Mass Damper on Floating Platform [PDF]
This paper evaluates the application of a passive control technique with a tuned mass damper on platform for the barge-type offshore wind turbine. First of all, the three degrees of freedom mathematical model for the floating wind turbine is established ...

Analysis of the Dynamic Response of Offshore Floating Wind Power Platforms in Waves
Floating wind power platforms are in constant motion due to waves when deployed at sea. This motion directly affects the stability and safety of the platform. Therefore, it is very important to study the laws governing the platform’s dynamic response. In

Experimental validation of parked loads for a floating vertical axis wind turbine: wind–wave basin tests [PDF]
Parked loads are a major design load case for vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) because of persistent high loads on the rotor when in standstill conditions.
