Experimental validation of parked loads for a floating vertical axis wind turbine: wind–wave basin tests [PDF]
Parked loads are a major design load case for vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) because of persistent high loads on the rotor when in standstill conditions.

Numerical modelling of dynamic responses of a floating offshore wind turbine subject to focused waves [PDF]
In this paper, we present numerical modelling for the investigation of dynamic responses of a floating offshore wind turbine subject to focused waves. The modelling was carried out using a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tool.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Laser Wind Sensor Performance Validation with an Existing Gage [PDF]
A new approach to laser wind sensor measurement validation is described and demonstrated. The new approach relies on the paired-t statistical method to generate a time series of differences between two sets of measurements.

Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine [PDF]
Wind power took on a leading role as the primary power source during the expected realization of carbon neutrality. Currently, large horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWTs) have become mainstream, progressing toward further increasing their size, which is ...

Nonlinear Hydrostatic Restoring Characteristics of a Spar Floating Wind Turbine [PDF]
Floating wind turbine technologies have worldwide applications. Regarding the wind turbine floater stability, there are three principal design philosophies: ballast-, buoyancy- and mooring-stabilized. Although linear hydrostatic stiffness coefficient has

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...
