Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

CHRONOLOGY OF RIO GRANDE WILD TURKEY FLOCKING BEHAVIOR IN THE TEXAS ROLLING PLAINS

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2010
: Rio Grande wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo intermedia) winter flocks are often >200 birds on the roost. Evaluations of winter flock congregation timing and potential climatic correlates that may influence this behavior are lacking.

On Non-hyperelliptic Flocks

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 1994
Let \(K\) be the quadratic cone of \(PG (3,q)\) with vertex \(v = (0,0,0,1)\) and equation \(X_0 X_1 = X_2^2\). A flock \(F\) of \(K\) is a partition of \(K \backslash \{v\}\) into \(q\) disjoint irreducible conics. Associated to each flock \(F\) is a translation plane \(T(F)\) of order \(q^2\) and dimension at most two over its kernel.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Fig mosaic transmitted by mite: First tree virus demonstrated to be transmitted by a mite found in studies on relationship of fig mite to fig mosaic

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1957
The fig mite—Aceria ficus (Cotte) — was shown to transmit fig mosaic virus in experiments set up to determine whether or not mosaic symptoms would persist on fig plants in the absence of fig mite infestations.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Using lamb sales data to investigate associations between implementation of disease preventive practices and sheep flock performance

open access: yesAnimal, 2019
Although the UK is the largest lamb meat producer in Europe, there are limited data available on sheep flock performance and on how sheep farmers manage their flocks.

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.
