Flood forecasting for everywhere-PUB in flood forecasting
2023In this study the Prediction in Ungauged Basins has been taken very literally in that we present a system that enables setting up a rainfall-runoff model, the Distance Distribution Dynamics (DDD) model for any catchment in Norway. The system can be used in operational flood forecasting since hydrological simulation results for an arbitrary catchment ...

Flood Forecasting with Bayesian Approach
2021 International Conference on Software, Telecommunications and Computer Networks (SoftCOM), 2021A wireless sensor network is made up of low-cost, energy-autonomous devices capable of monitoring physical or environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, noise, vibration, pressure, movement, pollution, etc.), performing specific calculations, and collaborate to transmit their data over wireless links to a recipient.

An Ontology Framework for Flooding Forecasting
2014Floods can cause significant damage and disruption as they often affect highly urbanized areas. The capability of knowledge using and sharing is the main reason why the ontologies are suited for supporting the phases of forecasting in (near-) real time disastrous flooding events and managing the flooding alert and emergency. This research work develops

Exploration of flood forecasting and flood mitigation
2021Floods are one of the most destructive natural disasters. They can have significant consequences such as loss of life and property. For preparedness and effective mitigation, engineers develop methods to predict floods before they occur. In this study, I investigated the performance of the Iowa Flood Center's flood forecasting method in mountainous ...

Water and Environment Journal, 2000
AbstractThis paper describes some of the latest developments in real‐time fluvial flood‐forecasting systems which utilise quantitative weather radar information. Rain‐gauge, flow‐measuring stations, weather radar and other sources of information are fully integrated by the real‐time flood‐forecasting system and provide flood warnings for civil ...

Combined flood routing and flood level forecasting
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2002This paper presents a proposed modeling approach which uses unsteady flow hydraulic modeling for both flood routing and flood level determination. The onerous data requirements of hydraulic models in the flood routing application are overcome through the use of a "limited geometry" approach to describe channel geometry. In populated areas, where flood

Flood Forecast Model and Probabilistic Analysis
2004This paper presents two probabilistic methods applications for extreme floods analysis and the individual flood forecast model. Case study numerical results are presented and some compared with the similar ones published in literature.

Flood forecasting and infiltration modelling.
2004The role of accuracy in the representation of infiltration on the effectiveness of real-time flood forecasting models was investigated. A simple semi-distributed model of conceptual type with adaptive estimate of hydraulic characteristics included in the infiltration component was selected.
