Flood frequency analysis of simulated flows
Water Resources Research, 1992When conventional statistical techniques are used with model‐simulated flows to estimate flood frequencies for different basin scenarios or for regulated flow conditions, the resulting estimates can appear inconsistent with the simulated flood data. In this paper we describe a new approach for flood frequency analysis of model‐simulated flows.

Parsimonious nonstationary flood frequency analysis
Advances in Water Resources, 2018Abstract There is now widespread awareness of the impact of anthropogenic influences on extreme floods (and droughts) and thus an increasing need for methods to account for such influences when estimating a frequency distribution. We introduce a parsimonious approach to nonstationary flood frequency analysis (NFFA) based on a bivariate regression ...

Flood frequency analysis with historic information
Journal of Hydrology, 1982Abstract The series of annual peak flows obtained from a recent continuous flow record, together with any historic floods or information, are treated as a censored sample from a three-parameter lognormal population. The logarithmic likelihood function is derived in terms of the fully specified floods, the historic information with censoring threshold,

Bias compensation in flood frequency analysis
Hydrological Sciences Journal, 2015AbstractFlood frequency analysis (FFA) is essential for water resources management. Long flow records improve the precision of estimated quantiles; however, in some cases, sample size in one location is not sufficient to achieve a reliable estimate of the statistical parameters and thus, regional FFA is commonly used to decrease the uncertainty in the ...

Software Design for a Versatile Flood Frequency Analysis
Advances in Engineering Software (1978), 1983A new flood frequency methodology has been developed and computerized. It detects objectively the outliers and inliers at various significance levels and modifies them if needed. Six significance levels, 1 through 6 (corresponding to outlierinlier probability pairs 0.01, 0.99; 0.05, 0.95; 0.1, 0.9; 0.2, 0.8; 0.3, 0.7; and 0.4, 0.6), are defined in ...

Rainfall frequency analysis for flood design
1994Aspects of extreme value theory are discussed which relate to rainfall frequency estimation for flood design. After summarizing methods applicable to the analysis of extremes at a single site, the contribution discusses the “pooling” of data from several sites and the derivation of depth-duration-frequency relationships.
