Illumination of Orthogonal Polygons with Orthogonal Floodlights
International Journal of Computational Geometry & Applications, 1998We provide the first tight bound for covering an orthogonal polygon with n vertices and h holes with vertex floodlights (guards with restricted angle of vision). In particular, we provide tight bounds for the number of orthogonal floodlights, placed at vertices or on the boundary, sufficient to illuminate the interior or the exterior of an orthogonal ...

Floodlight for illuminating a semicircular vault
Applied Optics, 1997A method of designing the profile of an asymmetric floodlight reflector for illuminating semicircular vaults with a constant illuminance is described. Only directional reflector surface reflection was assumed, and the location of the floodlight with respect to the illuminated surface was explicitly defined.

A CONSIDERABLE number of our home readers, at any rate, no doubt attended the meetings at which the symposium of papers on high‐temperature steels and alloys, arranged by the IRON AND STEEL INSTITUTE, were read on February 21 and 22, and some of them will have taken advantage of the offer of subscribing in advance at a reduced price for the bound ...

Since the onset of the energy crisis, many floodlights have been dimmed or removed. The cost conscious building owners are more concerned with the energy costs than losing beauty and elegance of the buildings. In the last several years, many highly efficient light sources have sprung up on the market.

Modeling and Verifying Basic Modules of Floodlight
Mobile Networks and Applications, 2018Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging networking paradigm that provides flexible network programmability and reduces the complexity of network management and control. OpenFlow Protocol is the best-known southbound interface of SDN. As one of the most popular OpenFlow controllers, Floodlight is famous for its excellent basic modules, which ...

Floodlighting of Pedestrian Crossings
Transactions of the Illuminating Engineering Society, 1962It is proposed that pedestrian crossings which require supplementary lighting be floodlit from the direction of the oncoming traffic, so that motorists see the pedestrians illuminated directly. Glare can be avoided by using a light beam of sharp cut-off, and by shielding the primary light source.

Two-floodlight illumination of convex polygons
1995A floodlight of size α is a light source that projects light in a cone of size α. In this paper we study the problem of illuminating a convex polygon using floodlights. We give an O(n2) time algorithm to find an optimal pair of floodlights to illuminate a convex polygon P with n vertices; that is a pair of floodlights to illuminate a convex polygon in ...
