The ecology of cyanobacteria in the temperate floodplain lake

2016

Depth as an organizer of fish assemblages in floodplain lakes

Aquatic Sciences, 2010
Depth reduction is a natural process in floodplain lakes, but in many basins has been accelerated by anthropogenic disturbances. A diverse set of 42 floodplain lakes in the Yazoo River Basin (Mississippi, USA) was examined to test the hypothesis of whether depth reduction was a key determinant of water quality and fish assemblage structure.

River-lake migration of fishes in the Dongting Lake area of the Yangtze floodplain

Journal of Applied Ichthyology, 2012
Over the past few decades, fish resources have declined severely owing to the riverlake disconnection within the Yangtze River floodplain. Studies on fish migrations between rivers and floodplain waters are imperative for fish resources restoration and lake management.

The Physical Dynamics of the River–Lake Floodplain System

2007
The Parana River is the second largest river in South America in terms of catchment area (1.51 million km2), the second longest (4,400 km from the headwaters of Grande River in Brazil to the Rio de la Plata estuary), and the third in terms of discharge (about 470 km3 of freshwater carried to the sea annually).
