Citharexylum es un genero americano de arbustos y arboles, con unas 130 especies. Para la Argentina habian sido citadas cuatro especies. En el presente trabajo, una quinta especie, C. solanaceum, hasta ahora solo conocida para el sur de Brasil, es citada por primera vez para la provincia de Misiones.
