OTITIS EXTERNA: Clinical Observations and Microbiologic Flora
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1946THE high incidence and the widespread distribution of otitis externa (otomycosis, myringomycosis, fungous infection of the ear) among military personnel in tropical or subtropical climes, and on their return to the United States, make this clinical entity a medical problem of importance. More commonly considered to result from fungous infection, otitis

MICROBIOLOGIC FLORA OF CHRONIC CUTANEOUS ULCERS
A.M.A. Archives of Surgery, 1953THE MICROBIOLOGIC flora of chronic cutaneous ulcers is variable, depending upon the initiating cause of the ulcer and its anatomical location and upon the environment and treatment of the patient. Bacterial infection alone infrequently is responsible for cutaneous ulcers, but once the skin is broken by trauma, trophic changes, or pressure necrosis, an ...

An examination of the microbiologic flora of normal lung of the dog.
The American review of respiratory disease, 1978We examined the hypothesis that normal lung is sterile. A laboratory animal, the dog, was chosen so that sample size could be maximized. Controls were used to eliminate the possible artifactual presence of bacteria in the lung. Thirty-seven per cent of lung samples contained aerobic bacteria with a mean concentration of 1.3 X 10(3) organisms per g of ...

A Microbiological Study of Normal Flora of Macropod Dental Plaque
Journal of Dental Research, 1977The percentage bacterial composition of dental plaques from 12 macropods was determined. The major group of organisms was gram-positive filamentous and pleomorphic rods whose median representation was 92.2%. These were mainly Actinomyces viscosus (median value 62.5%) and Bacterionema matruchotii (median value 23.2%).

The general bacterial flora was found to be similar in the different processes of flax-retting investigated. Coliform bacteria, streptococci, and spore-forming anaerobes consistently appeared in largo numbers.

MICROBIOLOGICAL FLORA AS A FUNCTION OF ICE DEPTH IN CENTRAL ANTARCTICA
1979A technique has been developed for obtaining ice samples under sterile conditions for microbiological analyses as a function of ice thicknesses and with a view to clarifying the possibility of long term microbial anabiosis under permafrost conditions. For the first time microbiological studies from the surface down to 312 meters in the Vostok station ...

Evaluation of the Principle Microbiological Flora of Cheeses at Retail Sale in Bazaars of Canakkale [PDF]
Food contamination, either from microbiological or chemical, is the highest concern for public health. The dairy products such as cheese have an essential role in human nutrition but have been linked with outbreaks of foodborne illness. The cheese production process contains the steps that might be the reasons of bacterial pathogens contamination.

Exploring bacterial flora in oral squamous cell carcinoma: a microbiological study
Biotechnic & Histochemistry, 2013The oral cavity contains a unique and diverse microflora. While most of these organisms exhibit commensalism, shifts in bacterial community dynamics cause pathological changes within the oral cavity and at distant sites. We assessed the microbial flora using cultured saliva and oral swabs from subjects with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and ...
