Differential scanning calorimetry: a novel approach to study spring frost tolerance in pome tree floral tissues

open access: yesFruit Research
Spring frosts occur in many pome fruit-producing regions globally. They are highly detrimental to floral tissues and yield, making frost tolerance of the reproductive organs one of the major breeding challenges.

Herbicide Metabolic Resistance in Poaceae Plants via the GA‐GID1/DELLA‐DOF2‐P450s Module

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant hormone signaling modulates herbicide resistance in Echinochloa crus‐galli. The GA–DELLA–DOF2 cascade directly activates P450 detoxification genes in two Poaceae species, uncovering a core mechanism of metabolic herbicide resistance. ABSTRACT Barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus‐galli) is one of the world's most important weeds, and the evolution of ...

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Identification of a GA-Related Cis-Element Regulating Male Peduncle Elongation in Papaya

open access: yesPlants
Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a tropical trioecious crop with males, hermaphrodites, and females. There is a sequence difference between male and hermaphrodite SHORT VEGETATIVE PHASE (CpSVP), making SVP a strong candidate gene controlling peduncle length ...

Gas Sensing With Aerogels: A Critical Review on Structure‐Property Correlations and Performance Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
With high specific surface area, and adjustable interface, aerogel provides a multi‐functional platform for gas sensing. This review systematically links structural parameters (specific surface area, pore size, heterojunctions) to sensing metrics (sensitivity, selectivity, stability), critically evaluates optimization strategies, and outlines future ...

Bond‐Competition‐Driven Enhancement of Surface Basicity and Interfacial Interaction to Boost Photocatalytic Syngas Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A synergetic surface bond competition−hybridization approach was developed to synthesize high‐performance CO2 adsorbents and syngas production photocatalysts via the sulfurization‐driven control of surface basicity and interfacial coupling. The ZnIn2S4−sulfur‐doped MgO/MgAl2O4 nanocomposites showed outstanding photocatalytic efficiency for production ...

Molecular‐Level Pore Engineering for Precise Separation via Active Solvent‐Mediated Interfacial Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that microemulsion solvents can actively template molecular‐level pores within selective layer during interfacial polymerization. By creating localized quasi‐homogeneous polymerization zones, the membrane achieved a 7.1‐fold enhancement in water permeance with increased selectivity.

Multi‐Scale Bionic Structure Constructs Biomass Flame‐Retardant Thermal Insulation Foam Material

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by mussel adhesion and hierarchical brick‐and‐mortar architectures, a cellulose‐based biomimetic foam is constructed by anchoring bentonite nanosheets onto a polydopamine‐decorated cellulose nanofiber network. The resulting foam combines low thermal conductivity with intrinsic flame retardancy and full biodegradability, presenting a ...

Alternating Shear Force of Respiration Regulates Cell Interactions of Fibroblasts and Macrophages to Promote Soft Tissue Integration of Chest Wall Polyetheretherketone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Given that PEEK chest wall implants induce shear force at the soft tissue‐implant interface due to respiratory motion in the early in vivo post‐implantation stage. We confirmed that this mechanical stimulus triggers the PIEZO1/ITGB1/YAP1 signalling axis in L929 and the STAT6/p‐STAT6 pathway in RAW264.7, which in turn mediates adhesion and migration of ...
