Unburned and Burned Sugarcane Harvesting in Florida
Transactions of the ASAE, 1983ABSTRACT FUEL consumption and performance results of four mechanical harvesting systems were determined in burned and unburned sugarcane in Florida. Harvester fuel consumption per gross tonne of cane averaged 112% higher in unburned cane than in burned cane. More important, cane recovery per hectare in unburned cane was only 83% of that in burned cane.
