Developing coefficients of conservatism to advance floristic quality assessment in the Mid-Atlantic region1

The Journal of the Torrey Botanical Society, 2012
Abstract Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA) is a recognized bioassessment technique for evaluating habitat nativity or resource condition (status) using conservatism of the plant community. The Mid-Atlantic Floristic Quality Assessment Project (MAR-FQA) was undertaken in 2009 to advance floristic quality assessment in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Using a Floristic Quality Assessment Technique to Evaluate Plant Community Integrity of Forested Wetlands in Southeastern Virginia

Natural Areas Journal, 2006
Abstract Given the continuing degradation of freshwater wetland ecosystems throughout the Southeast, there has been significant interest in developing methods and indices to evaluate and monitor wetland biological integrity. The purpose of this study was to adapt and test the ability of a vegetation-based assessment technique known as Floristic Quality

Testing the Efficacy of Species Richness and Floristic Quality Assessment of Quality, Temporal Change, and Fire Effects in Tallgrass Prairie Natural Areas

Natural Areas Journal, 2006
Abstract Despite extensive use, few studies have thoroughly tested competency of the Florist Quality Index (FQI) to assess vegetation quality by comparing it with alternative statistics and with independent measures in large data sets. We compared the efficacy of species richness and floristic quality indices in detecting temporal change and fire ...

A novel method for floristic quality assessment using the vegetation of the Jiuding Mountain, Sichuan, China as an example

Nordic Journal of Botany, 2009
Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA) is proposed as a new method to assess floristic integrity. In the present study, we use both the conventional method broadly adopted in the USA and a new one proposed herein to assess the floristic quality of the Jiuding Mountain.

[FQA: A method for floristic quality assessment based on conservatism of plant species].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2018
FQA, which uses the conservatism of plant species for particular habitats and the species richness of plant communities, is a rapid method for the assessment of habitat quality. This method is based on species composition of quadrats and coefficients of conservatism for species which assigned by experts.

Created stormwater wetlands as wetland compensation and a floristic quality approach to wetland condition assessment in central Alberta

2010
In Alberta, almost all created wetlands accepted as compensation have been naturalized stormwater management facilities. Our investigation of 32 created and natural wetlands in central Alberta determined that created wetlands have steeper shoreline slopes, largely as a result of their primary function as stormwater retention ponds.
