Electrical Characteristics of Flowing Blood

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1979
Erythrocyte orientation, deformation, and axial accumulation cause differences in resistance between flowing and resting blood. Through theoretical calculations and experimental measurements, we studied the effects of these factors and of sinusoidal and pulsatile flow on blood resistivity.

Mean Flow Characteristics of Redeveloping Flows

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1987
Turbulent boundary layer flow past a bluff body placed on a boundary is characterized by the formation of a standing eddy just downstream of the separation point and reattachment and redevelopment of the flow downstream of the reattachment point. Atmospheric boundary layer flow past buildings and shelter belts (used in agriculture), the spread of ...

Flow characteristics of a cyclic flow regenerator

Cryogenics, 1987
Abstract The results of experimental investigations on the cyclic flow characteristic of the regenerator of a split cycle Stirling cryocooler is presented. A mathematical model has been proposed to describe the action of regenerator and other main components of the cryocooler system on its dynamic response.

Flow Characteristics at Drops

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2002
This technical note is an experimental contribution to the study of the supercritical flow at drops. The experimental setup is arranged to measure flow characteristics, which include velocity profiles and several lengths. Because of the similarity of the supercritical flow to the subcritical flow, a basis for the analysis of data is also established ...

Studies on heat transfer and flow characteristics in subcooled flow boiling—Part 2. Flow characteristics

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1985
Measurement of wall temperature profile and photographic observation are performed for R-113 subcooled boiling flow in a channel with heat fluxes up to the CHF. The incipient boiling superheats measured are little affected by mass velocity and liquid subcooling.

Flow characteristics in models of arterial stenoses — II. Unsteady flow

Journal of Biomechanics, 1973
Abstract In Part I of this paper the effect of a stenosis on the steady flow through a tube was considered. In Part II the effect of unsteadiness is investigated experimentally using the same axisymmetric and nonsymmetric models. Oscillating flow, with and without a steady component, was utilized and the pressure drop was determined as a function of ...

Flood Flow Characteristics

Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers, 1926
The characteristics of flood flow that may have either general or special application and therefore must be considered in any preliminary studies for protecting a given locality are briefly stated,...

Flow Characteristics Downstream of Swirl Flow Generators

Volume 1B, Symposia: Fluid Machinery; Fluid-Structure Interaction and Flow-Induced Noise in Industrial Applications; Flow Applications in Aerospace; Flow Manipulation and Active Control: Theory, Experiments and Implementation; Multiscale Methods for Multiphase Flow; Noninvasive Measurements in Single and Multiphase Flows, 2014
An attempt was made, through experiments and numerical simulations, to clarify the mechanisms associated with the flow characteristics downstream of both inlet guide vanes (IGVs) with different vane geometries and circulation control wings (CCWs) with different jet sheet momentum coefficients.

Flow characteristics of horizontal bubbly pipe flow

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1996
Abstract Contrary to Kocamustafaougullari et al's conclusions, their experimental void and velocity profiles for horizontal bubbly flow are in fact compatible with a relationship assumed by Beattie between local void fraction and local velocity. Moreover, predictions based on the assumption (an independence of velocity profile on void profile and ...
