Sheet Metal Testing and Flow Curve Determination under Multiaxial Conditions

Advanced Engineering Materials, 2007
This study comprises the testing of three auto body steels with regard to formability, tensile strength and forming limits under various stress states. Two multiphase steels (DP600, TRIP700) and one ferritic interstitial free (DX54, 1.0306) were characterised. A further main focus of this study is the comparison of experimentally determined flow curves

Direct Determination of the Flow Curves of Non-Newtonian Fluids

Journal of Applied Physics, 1952
A method is proposed for the direct determination of the rate of shear-shearing stress curve of a fluid from data obtained in concentric cylinder viscometers. The method involves the use of a viscometer in which the ratio of outer to inner cylinder radii can be varied.

Flow-injection determination of zidovudine in plasma samples using multivariate curve resolution

Analytica Chimica Acta, 2007
This paper describes a spectrophotometric flow-injection method for the determination of an antiretroviral drug (zidovudine) in plasma samples. The main goal of this study is the development of feasible analytical method to monitor the plasmatic drug levels in a rapid and simple way as an alternative to chromatographic procedures.

Improvement of the Plane-Strain Compression Test for Determining Flow Curves

CIRP Annals, 1989
Summary The plane-strain compression test can be applied for determining flow curves up to high-strains. In order to improve the accuracy of the test the use of dies with rounded edges was studied both theoretically and by experiments. The effects of influencing factors were studied and the actual effective area of the dies and the coefficient of ...

Determination of the Flow Curve by a Cone and Plate Viscometer

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1968
It is shown how to determine the flow curve f(τ) of an arbitrary time-independent non-Newtonian fluid in a cone and plate viscometer from the known relationship between the torque M and the angular velocity \varOmega. The general formula for the flow curve has been applied to a Newtonian fluid.

A New Approach to the Torsion Test for Determining Flow Curves

CIRP Annals, 1989
Summary A new approximative method is applied for calculating stress-stain curves from torsion test results. The method is idependent of the material and the strain rate. For obtaining best accuracy the use of thinwalled tubular specimens is recommended especially when the flow curve deviates strongly from the exponential Ludwig-Hollomon law.

Determining Flow Curves of Sheet Metal

1989
While there are many different methods known for determining the flow curves of materials for bulk metal forming, only a limited number of experiments can be applied for thin sheet metal. There are several reasons for this: 1. For sheet metal the plastic anisotropy usually is of greater importance than for bulk metal forming.

Determining molecular weight distributions from viscosity versus shear rate flow curves

Polymer Engineering & Science, 1991
Abstract Using the theoretical approach of Bersted and Slee, we developed a technique of determining the molecular weight distribution (MWD) from the viscosity vs. shear rate flow curve. Each molecular weight fraction was assumed to have a characteristic deformation rate.

Computer-assisted method for multi-exponential curve fitting for determining cerebral blood flow

Computer Programs in Biomedicine, 1977
A computer program has been developed for use in determining cerebral blood flow using an inert radioactive gas. The basic algorithm involves the determination of multiple exponential coefficients from the complex concentration-time function. The exponential coefficients are determined by 'peeling' away slower exponentials complex function one at a ...

Determination of Flow Curves for Bulk Metal Forming

1989
In the simplest case the flow curve is obtained by measuring the force F and the elongation A L in the tensile test. In the range of strain below uniform elongation it is assumed that the stress is constant over the cross-section of the specimen. The ratio F/A where A is the actual cross-section is called flow stress σf: $$ {\sigma _f} = \frac{F}{A}
