Flow field characteristics of swirling double concentric jets

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2001
Abstract The flow structures and turbulence properties of double concentric jets with a large separation between the central jet and swirling annular flows are studied using the smoke-wire flow visualization technique and a two-component laser Doppler velocimeter.

Velocity field characteristics of a swirling flow combustor

AIAA Journal, 1983
Data for reacting and nonreacting flows obtained by laser anemometry in a swirl combustor are reported and discussed. The combustor consists of two confined, concentric swirling jets. The central jet flow is premixed methane/air; the annular jet flow is air.

Axisymmetric jet impingement on a dimpled surface: Effect of impingement location on flow field characteristics

International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, 2018
Few studies have investigated the flow characteristics of jets impinging on dimpled surfaces that may increase or decrease their heat transfer capabilities.

Biofouling characteristics using flow field-flow fractionation: Effect of bacteria and membrane properties

Bioresource Technology, 2010
In this study, membrane biofouling caused by bacteria that have different characteristics was evaluated using flow field-flow fractionation (FlFFF). Three different bacteria which differed from size and shape (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Flavobacterium lutescens) were investigated with GM ultrafiltration (UF, rough with a low negative

Flow field and noise characteristics of a supersonic impinging jet

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1998
This paper describes the results of a study examining the flow and acoustic characteristics of an axisymmetric supersonic jet issuing from a sonic and a Mach 1.5 converging–diverging (C–D) nozzle and impinging on a ground plane. Emphasis is placed on the Mach 1.5 nozzle with the sonic nozzle used mainly for comparison.

Flow field characteristics of isolator with fluidic injection

International Journal of Turbo & Jet-Engines
Abstract The present work investigates the effect of secondary fluidic injection on the flow-physics of a supersonic stream within an isolator. An isolator with a length-to-height ratio of 4.5 and an entry Mach number of 2 was chosen for this investigation. The experimental investigations were conducted at a nozzle pressure ratio of 4

Unsteady characteristic in integrated flameholder combustion flow field

Physics of Fluids
Integrated flameholder is widely used in advanced combustors. The unsteady characteristic of integrated flameholder combustion flow fields is critical. In this study, experiments and numerical simulation were carried out for the inspection of methods and analysis of their unsteady characteristic.

Numerical Study of the Internal Flow Field Characteristics in Mixed Flow Turbines

Volume 5: Turbo Expo 2002, Parts A and B, 2002
Presented is a numerical investigation of the characteristics of the internal flow field of a high-speed low-pressure ratio mixed flow turbine of 95.14 mm tip diameter. A commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code has been successfully employed.
