Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Laboratory Measurements of Rise Velocity for Individual, Hydrate‐Free and Hydrate‐Coated Gas Bubbles in Water

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Tracking methane transport becomes more complicated in the deep ocean where seafloor release of methane gas bubbles occurs at the high pressures and low temperatures conducive to hydrate formation on bubble surfaces.

Design of dust sampler based on closed-loop flow control

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2015
In view of problem of big sampling error of dust sampler based on open-loop control, a dust sampler based on closed-loop flow control was designed. The sampler uses micro gas flow sensor to collect flow, adopts incremental PID control algorithm with die ...

Flow Regime, Slug Frequency and Wavelet Analysis of Air/Newtonian and Air/non-Newtonian Two-Phase Flow

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This study focused on gas/Newtonian and gas/non-Newtonian two-phase horizontal fluid flow behavior by analyzing their flow regime identification and flow structural analysis on a horizontal flow loop apparatus.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Flow Volume Loops in Patients With Goiters

open access: yesAnnals of Surgery, 1992
Plain radiology is the standard means of assessing upper airway obstruction in patients with goiters. Flow volume loop curves will provide additional information, because they allow a quantitative assessment of airflow dynamics in the respiratory cycle. Fifty-one patients had flow volume loops performed before and after thyroidectomy.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Decoupler Design for an Interacting Tanks System

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2008
The mathematical model for the two interacting tanks system was derived and the dynamic behavior of this system was studied by introducing a step change in inlet flow rate.

Numerical assessment of stability behaviour in supercritical CO2 based NCLS configured with heater h

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Engineering, 2023
Three-dimensional numerical analysis is presented in this study to assess the transient and stability behaviour of supercritical CO2 (sCO2) based NCLs configured with three different types of heat sources, i.e., heater, a hot heat exchanger (HHX) and ...
