Analysis of Flow Maldistribution in Compact Heat Exchangers
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2022Abstract Most theoretical models related to thermal performance and the evaluation of pressure drop on compact heat exchangers, consider that the mass flow rate is constant and equal in all core channels. However, this hypothesis in some situations is erroneous, the effect of fluid maldistribution affects heat exchangers performance ...

On Flow Maldistribution in PEMFC Stacks
International Journal of Green Energy, 2011Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stacks are widely studied for their own advantages. The flow maldistribution in unit cells may severely influence the fuel cell stack performance, mainly including the uniformity of current density and the voltage.

Flow maldistribution in heat exchangers
Applied Thermal Engineering, 1999Based on the study of gross flow maldistribution in an experimental electrical heater, this paper presents the effect of flow nonuniformity on the performance of heat exchangers. First, it is shown that it is much more important to understand maldistributions for electrical heaters than for two-fluid heat exchangers.

Flow maldistribution measurements in wall-flow diesel filters
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2004Understanding the flow maldistribution phenomena inside porous ceramic diesel particulate filters and their effects on the pressure drop and regeneration characteristics is important for the successful design and modelling of this class of exhaust aftertreatment system.

Flow Maldistribution Effects on DPF Performance
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2009<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper focuses on some of the DPF system design issues where 3-dimensional modeling is necessary. The study is based on an existing 3-dimensional DPF model (<i>axitrap</i>) which is coupled to a commercial CFD code (Star-CD, CD-Adapco). The main focus is the effect of the inlet pipe geometry on soot
