Thermal analysis of plate condensers in presence of flow maldistribution

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2006
Flow maldistribution in plate heat exchangers causes deterioration of both thermal and hydraulic performance. The situation becomes more complicated for two-phase flows during condensation where uneven distribution of the liquid to the channels reduces heat transfer due to high liquid flooding.

Pressure Losses and Flow Maldistribution in Ducts with Sharp Bends

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2004
Pipelines and ducting systems used in process industry applications are characterized by large sizes, sharp bends and successive bends connected by short straight sections. Systematic studies of such flow situations have not been reported in the literature and the design of such ducting systems is based on rules of thumb and scaled-model testing ...

Simulation of Flow Maldistribution and Its Result on Mass-Transfer

1995
Vapor-liquid mass-transfer is one of the most important industrial processing steps in chemical and petrochemical manufacturing, petroleum refining, gas processing, and waste water treatment. The driving force for the composition shift is the relative volatility (α) of the components to be separated defined by the ratio of the vapor phase to liquid ...

Quantifying the importance of flow maldistribution in numbered-up microreactors

2016
Abstract This article develops a methodology for quantifying the impact of flow maldistribution on the overall performance of a numbered-up microreactor system. The methodology consists of the simulation of multiple plug-flow microreactors in parallel where each microreactor is fed with a certain fraction of the total inlet flow.
