THE MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF COMPRESSIBLE FLUID FLOW
In this note we consider the mathematical model of the isothermal compressible fluid flow in an exterior domain O ⊂ R3. In order to solve this problem we apply a decomposition scheme and reduce the nonlinear problem to an operator equation with a contraction operator.

Flow laminarization and a cceleration by suspended particles
In [Comm. Appl. Math. Comput. Sci., 4(2009), pp. 153-175], Barenblatt presents a model for partial laminarization and acceleration of shear flows by the presence of suspended particles of different sizes, and provides a formal asymptotic analysis of the ...

The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Using Formal Concept Analysis and Information Flow for modelling and sharing common semantics: lessons learnt and emergent issues [PDF]
We have been witnessing an explosion of user involvement in knowledge creation, publication and access both from within and between organisations. This is partly due to the widespread adoption of Web technology. But, it also introduces new challenges for

Electric controlling of surface metal-insulator transition in the doped BaTiO3 film
Based on first-principles calculations, the BaTiO3(BTO) film with local La-doping is studied. For a selected concentration and position of doping, the surface metal-insulator transition occurs under the applied electric field, and the domain appears near

The effect of teaching mathematical modeling problems on the students’ flow experiences [PDF]
: Given the fact that “modeling and applications” and learning them at school and University can better illustrate the application of mathematics in science, technology, and daily life, creating opportunities for students in order to broaden their ...

Identification of elastoplastic material parameters for the solid phase of metal foams
For the prediction of the mechanical behavior of foams, the effective foam properties can be calculated from the mechanical properties of the solid phase and the geometric microstructure via computer simulation.
