The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Decreased peripheral and central responses to acupuncture stimulation following modification of body ownership. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Acupuncture stimulation increases local blood flow around the site of stimulation and induces signal changes in brain regions related to the body matrix.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Analysis of the flow pattern modifications in a bubbly Couette-Taylor flow [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics of Fluids, 2007
The aim of this Brief Communication is to discuss the bubble effect on the Couette-Taylor flow patterns in the transition from laminar to turbulent flow, especially in the weakly turbulent regime. It is shown that bubble location and local void fractions both in the vortices cores and in the near wall regions directly influence the axial wavelength ...

Hydrograph modeling with rational modified method

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Water, a vital natural resource for a human being, could bring negative effects such as flood and landslides. The best way to show the hydrological process is called “model”. One of them is Modified Rational Method (MRM).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Effect of Ester Modification on Cement Powder Flow Properties

open access: yesBuildings
The clinker grinding stage in Portland cement production is highly energy-intensive, primarily due to particle agglomeration and intensified interparticle attractive forces that hinder efficient comminution.

Effect of Relative Movement between the Shroud and Blade on Tip Leakage Flow Characteristics

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
An experimental and numerical investigation into the tip leakage flow of a turbine rotor is carried out using a particle image velocimetry (PIV) system and the commercial software ANSYS CFX 14.0.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Research of the Design of Double Helical Gear Modification based on KISSsoft Software

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2018
Based on the KISSsoft software, the modification parameters of double helical gear are designed and researched. The performance indexes such as the transmission error, the normal force and the tooth surface load distribution are used to evaluate the ...
