Stratified Kolmogorov flow. Part 2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2005
Forced stratified flows are shown to suffer two types of linear long-wave instability: a ‘viscous’ instability which is related to the classical instability of Kolmogorov flow, and a ‘conductive instability’, with the form of a large-scale, negative thermal diffusion. The nonlinear dynamics of both instabilities is explored with weakly nonlinear theory

Parents of Youth With Cancer Report on Their Psychosocial Care: iSTEPPP Survey Finds Alignment and Gaps With Standards

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Standards for Psychosocial Care for Children with Cancer and Their Families guide the provision of comprehensive psychosocial care. Parallel to research characterizing implementation of the Standards from the perspective of providers, this study examines implementation of the Standards from the perspective of parents of youth ...

On the maintenance of the axisymmetric part of the flow in the atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yespure and applied geophysics, 1972
The maintenance of the axisymmetric component of the flow in the atmosphere is investigated by means of a steady-state, quasi-geostrophic formulation of the meteorological equations. It is shown that the meridional variations in the time-averaged axisymmetric variables can be expressed as the sum of three contributions, one being due to the eddy heat ...

Chemotherapy for Spinal Cord Intramedullary Pediatric Low‐Grade Glioma—A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric intramedullary low‐grade gliomas (PIMLGGs) are rare neoplasms that present unique clinical and management challenges. Although surgery remains the primary tool for tissue diagnosis and decompression, complete gross‐total resection is frequently unfeasible due to the infiltrative nature of these lesions.

Vibrational power flow in beam-plate structures Part I: Basic theory

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
This paper presents the expressions of Vibrational Power Flow (VPF) in Beam-Plate Structures (BPS). These expressions are derived based on structural dynamics. BPS is composed of a constant cross-section beam and a thin fiat rectangular plate.

Study on performance and flow loss of reactor coolant pump with different laws of guide vane angle

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2023
To study the influence of different laws of guide vane angle on the performance of reactor coolant pump (RCP), five models of RCP with different guide vane were designed, and the three‐dimensional numerical calculation was carried out.

Perturbation Growth and Structure in Uncertain Flows. Part II

open access: yesJournal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 2002
Perturbation growth in uncertain systems is examined and related to previous work in which linear stability concepts were generalized from a perspective based on the nonnormality of the underlying linear operator. In this previous work the linear operator, subject to an initial perturbation or a stochastic forcing distributed in time, was either fixed ...
