Oscillatory Boundary Layer Flow Over Rippled Beds

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1984, 1984
Characteristics of the oscillatory boundary layer flow above rippled beds were investigated through experiments and numerical calculations. Experiments were conducted in an oscillatory flow tunnel. Velocities above symmetric and asymmetric ripples were measured with split-hot-film sensors under conditions of both sinusoidal and asymmetric oscillations.

Precessive sand ripples in intense steady shear flows

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2011
We describe experimental observations of fully developed, large-amplitude bars under the action of a shearing fluid. The experiments were performed in an annular tank filled with water and sheared above by a steady motor source. The same steady shearing flow can produce a variety of different erodible bed manifestations: advective or precessive bars ...

Numerical simulation of low-pulsation gerotor pumps for use in the pharmaceutical industry and in biomedicine

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2015
The reduction of the pulsation of flow and pressure as well as the increase of the mean flow of a displacement pump will be a benefit to many technical processes, especially in the pharmaceutical industry and in biomedicine.

Selective Laser Melting under Variable Ambient Pressure: A Mesoscopic Model and Transport Phenomena

open access: yesEngineering, 2021
Recent reports on the selective laser melting (SLM) process under a vacuum or low ambient pressure have shown fewer defects and better surface quality of the as-printed products.

Direct numerical simulations of ripples in an oscillatory flow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2019
Sea ripples are small-scale bedforms which originate from the interaction of an oscillatory flow with an erodible sand bed. The phenomenon of sea ripple formation is investigated by means of direct numerical simulation in which the sediment bed is represented by a large number of fully resolved spherical grains (i.e.

Frequency pattern of turbulent flow and sediment entrainment over ripples using image processing [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2012
River channel change and bed scourings are source of major environmental problem for fish and aquatic habitat. The bed form such as ripples and dunes is the result of an interaction between turbulent flow structure and sediment particles at the bed.

Experimental Study on R32 Flow and Condensation Heat Transfer in Tubes with Enhanced Surface

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2023
Experiments were conducted to study the condensation heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of refrigerant R32 in aluminum herringbone tubes, ripple tubes, and smooth tubes. The experimental refrigerant mass flow rate is 100-350 kg/(m2·s).
