Numerical simulation of glottal flow

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 2013
In cases of permanent immobility of both vocal folds patients have difficulties with breathing but rarely with voicing. However, clinical experience shows that the shape of the larynx (voice box) seems to have a significant influence on the degree of airflow and breathing pattern.

JennyLynn Flow Simulator

American Association of Bovine Practitioners Conference Proceedings, 1996
Accurate recordings of vacuum levels and vacuum fluctuations during milking provide the best means of demonstrating the adequacy of any milking system. However, anyone involved in on-farm testing of milking equipment realizes the challenge in picking the "right cow" to check during milk time evaluations.

Simulating flow in porous media

Physical Review A, 1988
The problem of two-phase fluid flow in statistically homogeneous but random porous media is addressed. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of the stochastic nature of the porous medium in the development of unstable interfaces at large mobility ratios. A formalism is developed in which the random nature of a real porous medium can be incorporated

Flow-forming and flow formability simulation

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2008
Forward flow forming of tubes have been simulated using an explicit commercial finite element program. Variation of contact geometry considering plastic flow has been calculated based on the proposed criterion. Also flow formability of tube materials have been calculated during forward flow-forming process.

Computer‐controlled flow simulator for MR flow studies

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1992
AbstractA novel computer‐controlled flow simulator for use in magnetic resonance (MR) flow experiments was evaluated. The accuracy in constant‐flow mode was better than 1%. The accuracy in pulsatile‐flow mode was found to be dependent on the interconnecting tubing.

VERTICAL DISCRETIZATION IN TIDAL FLOW SIMULATIONS

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 1996
The authors propose an empirical law for vertical nodal placement in tidal flow simulations which depends on a single parameter. The usefulness of the approach is demonstrated through two-dimensional laterally averaged flows in synthetic estuaries.

Flow Simulation in Stochastic Porous Media

SIMULATION, 2000
A family of gamma distributions can be used to model the pore size distributions in a range of stochastic porous media. Our simu lator generates distributional and net flow data for different fluid flow regimes through such networks. The outputs from the simu lation show strong relationships between mean flow and the variance of pore radii for ...

An Embedded Flow Simulation Methodology for Flow over Fence Simulations

2017
In this paper, we report the development of embedding a flow simulation methodology (FSM) (Fasel HF, von Terzi DA, Sandberg RD (2006) A methodology for simulating compressible turbulent flows. J Appl Mech 3:405–412 [1]), (Weinmann M, Sandberg RD, Doolan C (2014) Tandem cylinder flow and noise predictions using a hybrid RANS/LES approach. Int. J.

Numeric Flow Simulation

2011
The major issue for microscopic nozzles are boundary layers that form along the internal walls of the nozzle. The boundary layer that forms here is a thin flow layer attached to the nozzle walls that connects the high velocity flow in the volume of the domain with the flow boundary that is immediately attached to the confining walls, and therefore has ...
