Quantitative Flow Visualization
Meccanica, 1998Modern developments in laser and computer technology, electronic cameras, and digital image processing techniques allow to generate planar distributions of quantitative data in turbulent flows. Large amounts of data can be processed easily and analyzed statistically.

Introduction The images shown in Figure 1 display a single time step of a turbulent flow simulation computed by Dr. Thomas J. R. Hughes, Professor of Aerospace Engineering, and Victor Calo at The University of Texas at Austin. This research examines how a fluid running over a flat plate suddenly becomes turbulent.

We discuss volume line integral convolution (LIC) techniques for effectively visualizing 3D flow, including using visibility-impeding halos and efficient asymmetric filter kernels. Specifically, we suggest techniques for selectively emphasizing critical regions of interest in a flow; facilitating the accurate perception of the 3D depth and orientation ...

This paper introduces a new methodology to compute dense visual flow using the precise timings of spikes from an asynchronous event-based retina. Biological retinas, and their artificial counterparts, are totally asynchronous and data-driven and rely on a paradigm of light acquisition radically different from most of the currently used frame-grabber ...

This chapter presents an overview of techniques for visualization of fluid flow data. As a starting point, a brief introduction to experimental flow visualization is given. The rest of the chapter concentrates on computer graphics flow visualization. A pipeline model of the flow visualization process is used as a basis for presentation.

Visual Representation Strategy of Flow Line in Flow Maps Visualization
2019Flow maps are usually used to express the flow relationship of space and are commonly used in population migration, transportation networks, trade links, etc. The flow line is an important medium that helps people to understand the node relationship and the flow level. Its visual representation affects the cognitive effect of data information.

FLOW VISUALIZATION APPROACH FOR PERIODICALLY REVERSED FLOWS
Journal of Flow Visualization and Image Processing, 2012An unconventional tuft visualization method, along with an image processing technique adapted to the flow conditions, is proposed and implemented on a reduced-scale model of a Francis-type reversible pump-turbine in three different turbine stages such as turbine mode, runaway mode, and turbine break mode. The main goal of this technique is to visualize

Minimally immersive flow visualization
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2001This paper describes a minimally immersive interactive system for flow visualization of multivariate volumetric data. The system, SFA, uses perceptually motivated rendering to increase the quantity and clarity of information perceived. Proprioception, stereopsis, perceptually motivated shape visualization, and three-dimensional interaction are combined
