Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Manufacturing requirements in design: The RTM process in aeronautics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A sub-unit of an aeronautical structure (fuselage, fin, wing, etc.) consists of a set of components fixed rigidly together. One of today’s major industrial challenges is to produce these sub-units out of composite materials in order to increase the level

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Prediction of Surface Topography Parameters in Direct Laser Interference Patterning of Stainless Steel Using Infrared Monitoring and Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an infrared monitoring approach for direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) combined with a convolutional neural network (CNN). Thermal emission data captured during structuring are used to predict surface topography parameters.

Permeability Prediction By Classical and Flow Zone Indictor (FZI) Methods for an Iraqi Gas Field

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2017
The permeability is the most important parameter that indicates how efficient the reservoir fluids flow through the rock pores to the wellbore. Well-log evaluation and core measurements techniques are typically used to estimate it.

Permeability Prediction Using Advanced Magnetic Resonance Tools and Hydraulic Reservoir Units Techniques for the Pliocene Sand Reservoirs, Sapphire Offshore Gas Field, Mediterranean, Egypt

open access: yesIraqi Geological Journal
Permeability derived from magnetic resonance advanced logging tools was used to unlock the Pliocene sandstone reservoir heterogeneity. Permeability prediction from well logs is a significant target due to the unavailability of core data.
