Flowering time regulation: Agrochemical control of flowering
Nature Plants, 2017The time of flowering is important in crop production. Rice has now been genetically engineered to respond to agrochemical spraying, which results in floral induction. This research offers new perspectives to control the phenological development of crops in the field.

Excerpt The doctor's late now and that means she'll be mad. She hasn't called either, like she usually does when she's held up at the hospital and she'll be 5 minutes late getting to the office.

GENETIC CONTROL OF FLOWERING TIME IN ARABIDOPSIS
Annual Review of Plant Physiology and Plant Molecular Biology, 1998▪ Abstract The timing of the transition from vegetative to reproductive development is of great fundamental and applied interest but is still poorly understood. Recently, molecular-genetic approaches have been used to dissect this process in Arabidopsis.

The literary lineage of postapocalyptic fiction — stories set after civilization's destruction — is a long one, spanning the biblical tale of Noah and Hesiod's Works and Days to the works of Mary Shelley, Octavia Butler, Cormac McCarthy, and many others. Traveling from antiquity to the present, this book reveals how postapocalyptic fiction differs from

The flowering-time geneFT and regulation of flowering inArabidopsis
Journal of Plant Research, 1998Transition from vegetative to reproductive development (flowering) is one of the most important decisions during the post-embryonic development of flowering plants. More than twenty loci are known to regulate this process inArabidopsis. Some of these flowering-time genes may act at the shoot apical meristem to regulate its competence to respond to ...

Characterization of Flowering Time Mutants
2019Timing of flowering, which is adapted to the ambient environment, is one of the key traits to ensure the reproductive success of plants. Our current understanding of the complex genetic control network of this trait is mostly derived from the studies in the model plant species Arabidopsis thaliana. Arabidopsis thaliana is an annual facultative long-day

Control of flowering time in plants
Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, 1996The mechanisms by which the transition to flowering is regulated in plants have been the subject of intense physiological study for many years. Recent studies, particularly in Arabidopsis thaliana, have revealed the genetic complexity of flowering. Flowering appears to be controlled by multiple pathways that are influenced by the environment in which ...

Seasonal and developmental timing of flowering
The Plant Journal, 2010SummaryThe coordination of the timing of flowering with seasonal and development cues is a critical life‐history trait that has been shaped by evolution to maximize reproductive success. Decades of studying many plant species have revealed several of the fascinating systems that plants have evolved to control flowering time: such as the perception of ...

Comparative genetics of flowering time
Plant Molecular Biology, 1997Analysis of genes controlling flowering time (heading date) contributes to our understanding of fundamental principles of plant development and is of practical importance because of the effects of flowering time on plant adaptation and crop yield. This review discusses the extent to which plants may share common genetic mechanisms for the control of ...

Science, 2004
How plants measure day length and use it to synchronize flowering to the changing seasons has been of wide interest since photoperiodism was first described in the 1920s. Recently, major advances have been made in understanding the underlying mechanisms by using Arabidopsis and rice as models.
