Making Flowers at the Right Time [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopmental Cell, 2016
Different plant species flower in different seasons, but there is also annual variability depending on environmental conditions. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Hyun et al. (2016) show that Arabidopsis plants can flower without proper seasonal cues if they have developed past the juvenile phase and have high levels of gibberellin.

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Floral induction and development in Myosotidium hortensia and Phormium cookianum : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Biology at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Little is known of the stimuli needed for flowering in two New Zealand endemic plants, Myosotidium hortensia and Phormium cookianum. These plants are widely recognised by the horticulture sector and the concerns of this thesis were to aid understanding ...

Parallel functional differentiation of an invasive annual plant on two continents. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Rapid local adaptation frequently occurs during the spread of invading species. It remains unclear, however, how consistent, and therefore potentially predictable, such patterns of local adaptation are.

Crosstalk of cold and gibberellin effects on bolting and flowering in flowering Chinese cabbage

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2019
The flower stalk is the product organ of flowering Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsen et Lee), which is cultivated extensively in South China.

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

Prediction of photoperiodic regulators from quantitative gene circuit models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Photoperiod sensors allow physiological adaptation to the changing seasons. The external coincidence hypothesis postulates that a light-responsive regulator is modulated by a circadian rhythm.

Time of flowering and fertilisation of quince varieties

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 1999
Literature dealing with flowering and fertilisation of quince is scarce. Most controversial and scanty are informations on observations of self- and cross-pollination.

Flowering time diversification and dispersal in central Eurasian wild wheat Aegilops tauschii Coss.: genealogical and ecological framework. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Timing of flowering is a reproductive trait that has significant impact on fitness in plants. In contrast to recent advances in understanding the molecular basis of floral transition, few empirical studies have addressed questions concerning population ...

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...
