Development of the ultrasonic flowmeter

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1975
Abstract The ultrasonic flow-velocity meter for blood flow measurement has developed in two directions. The first type is the transit-time velocity meter, and the second, the Doppler-shift type. For clinical measurement the transcutaneous Doppler instrument is now in routine use and has largely superseded the transit-time type. Doppler-shift velocity

A flowmeter for respiratory monitoring

Critical Care Medicine, 1978
A variable-orifice pneumotachograph is described. It has a resistance that is relatively constant over a flow range from 0.1 to 2.5 liter/sec so it puts out a differential pressure signal that is directly proportional to flow. It is specifically designed for monitoring respirator patients and sacrifices some of the accuracy of a laminar flow (Fleisch ...

Modern water flowmeters: Differential pressure flowmeters

2016 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE), 2016
Beeing a part of the no moving parts instruments, differential flow meter are mainly used in the industrial environment, not being found in house hold use. The basic functional principle consists in the appearance of a differential pressure between two points of the flow, if between this comes a flow resistivity object (obstacle, strangulation, elbow).

Noise in electromagnetic flowmeters

Medical & Biological Engineering, 1966
The causes of noise in electromagnetic flowmeters are reviewed, and some examples given of the equivalent thermal noise resistance likely to be found in practical flowmeters. Signal-to-noise ratio is examined in relation to both the unwanted transformer e.m.f.s and the type of magnet excitation used.
