Numerical Prediction of Turbulent Spray Flame Characteristics Using the Filtered Eulerian Stochastic Field Approach Coupled to Tabulated Chemistry

Fluids, 2021
The Eulerian stochastic fields (ESF) method, which is based on the transport equation of the joint subgrid scalar probability density function, is applied to Large Eddy Simulation of a turbulent dilute spray flame.

Collective dynamics of dense hairy surfaces in turbulent flow

Scientific Reports, 2023
Flexible filamentous beds interacting with a turbulent flow represent a fundamental setting for many environmental phenomena, e.g., aquatic canopies in marine current. Exploiting direct numerical simulations at high Reynolds number where the canopy stems

Spatial artificial neural network model for subgrid-scale stress and heat flux of compressible turbulence

Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2020
The subgrid-scale (SGS) stress and SGS heat flux are modeled by using an artificial neural network (ANN) for large eddy simulation (LES) of compressible turbulence. The input features of ANN model are based on the first-order and second-order derivatives

Phase-locked absorption tomography for retrieving 5 kHz time-resolved tracer profiles in solid fuel combustion

Applications in Energy and Combustion Science, 2022
Turbulent mixing processes and species transport govern many important properties like stability and pollutant formation of reactive systems. We propose spectrally resolved absorption tomography as a viable tool to quantitatively assess species transport

Robust, spatially scanning, open-path TDLAS hygrometer using retro-reflective foils for fast tomographic 2-D water vapor concentration field measurements [PDF]

Atmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2015
We have developed a fast, spatially scanning direct tunable diode laser absorption spectrometer (dTDLAS) that combines four polygon-mirror based scanning units with low-cost retro-reflective foils.
