Gross capital flows : dynamics and crises [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyzes the joint behavior of international capital flows by foreign and domestic agents -- gross capital flows -- over the business cycle and during financial crises.

METHOD OF DETERMINING OPTIMAL MULTIPROGRAM CONTROL PARAMETERS ON ISOLATED INTERSECTIONS

open access: yesВестник СибАДИ, 2017
This paper demonstrates the relevance of accounting of traffic flows variability over time allows reducing intersection traffic delays in urban areas. The method of determining the optimal parameters of multiprogram control, allows considering the daily ...

Minimum‐Peak‐Cost Flows Over Time

open access: yesNetworks
ABSTRACT Peak cost is a novel objective for flows over time that describes the amount of workforce necessary to run a system. We focus on minimizing peak costs in the context of maximum temporally repeated flows and formulate the corresponding MPC‐MTRF problem.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The role of worker flows in the dynamics and distribution of UK unemployment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Unemployment varies substantially over time and across subgroups of the labour market. Worker flows among labour market states act as key determinants of this variation.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Inheritance flows in Switzerland, 1911–2011

open access: yesSwiss Journal of Economics and Statistics, 2018
We estimate the size of inheritance flows in Switzerland over a long span of data, in close analogy to the study for France by Piketty (Q J Econ 126(3):1071–1131, 2011).
