Investigation on the formation of nitrogen, sulfur and chlorine species in air and oxy-fuel combustion of biomass in a semi-industrial combustion chamber

open access: yesFuel Processing Technology
In this paper, the influence of oxy-fuel operation with flue gas recirculation on the occurrence of minority species in a semi-industrial combustion chamber is analyzed.

Energy‐Efficient Combustion Technologies and Burner Designs for Glass Melting Furnaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Glass Science, Volume 17, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Glass production is one of the most energy‑intensive manufacturing processes, requiring furnace temperatures above 1600°C. These temperatures depend on burners that must balance thermal efficiency with emission reductions. This article reviews the development of combustion systems in glass furnaces, focusing on their impact on energy ...

Limited Contribution of Hatchery‐Reared Pikeperch to a Wild Population in a Temperate Reservoir: Evidence From Otolith Microchemistry

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Fish stocking is a common management practice used to mitigate the effects of overfishing and other threats to wild fish populations. It is mainly employed in freshwater ecosystems with complex and variable strategies (different timings, fish lengths and origins), making its effectiveness challenging to assess.

Climate Action Impacts on Steelmaking Emissions of Persistent Organic Pollutants Highlight a Gap Between the Paris Agreement and the Stockholm Convention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 29, 22 May 2026.
Emissions of unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants (UPOPs) and global warming are two major environmental challenges. But their governance has largely evolved in parallel, leaving the toxicity implications of climate‐driven industrial transitions poorly understood.

Assessment of the Flue Gas Recycle Strategies on Oxy- Coal Power Plants using an Exergy-based Methodology

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2013
While oxy-combustion CO2 capture was foreseen to have higher improvement potential than post- combustion a decade ago, research has not been carried out at the same pace since then and today, the latter exhibits higher technological maturity along with ...

Technobiological Pathways for High‐CO₂ Capture Using Micro‐/Macroalgae: Genetic Engineering, Process Automation, and Value‐Added Bioproducts

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 21, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have emerged as one of the most critical drivers of climate change; this is primarily due to high concentrations and long atmospheric life of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a significant amount of time, various biological processes such as microalgal cultivation, cyanobacterial systems, photosynthetic microorganisms ...

Non-Catalytic NOx Removal from Gas Turbine Exhaust with Cyanuric Acid in a Recirculating Reactor; Small Scale Evaluation and Industrial Application

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2014
A novel SNC technique to remove oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from stationary gas turbine exhaust has been investigated and applied. The technique employs the use of cyanuric acid (CYA), a non-toxic, dry powder, combined with the injection of auxiliary ...

Integrated Flue‐Gas Heat Recovery for Optimized Steam and Power Generation Using Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC): A Technical and Economic Assessment

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 2499-2513, May 2026.
Integration of a steam cycle with an existing gas turbine increased efficiency from 32% to 51%, reducing fuel consumption by 21.4% and CO2 emissions by 18.6%. The modification generated USD 13.9 million annual savings and lowered the Levelized Cost of Energy to 38.7 USD/MWh, with a 3‐year payback.

Vector‐Reversal Strategy: Redirecting In Situ Generated CO2 for Low‐Voltage Bicarbonate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
A CO2 vector‐reversal strategy is developed to resolve ionic pathway obstruction induced by gas stagnation. By generating a reverse transport vector through sealed channels, this architecture spatially decouples gas transport from ionic pathways and ensures continuous reactant resupply.
