Microalgal removal of CO2 from flue gases: Changes in medium pH and flue gas composition do not appear to affect the photochemical yield of microalgal cultures

Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering, 2003
Our research objectives are to determine under what conditions microalgal-based CO2 capture from flue gases is economically attractive. Specifically, our objective here was to select microalgae that are temperature, pH and flue gas tolerant. Microalgae were grown under five different temperatures, three different pH and five different flue gas mixtures

Stable isotope composition of mercury forms in flue gases from a typical coal-fired power plant, Inner Mongolia, northern China

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2017
Mercury forms emitted from coal combustion via air pollution control devices are speculated to carry different Hg isotope signatures. Yet, their Hg isotope composition is still not reported. Here, we present the first onsite Hg isotope data for gaseous elemental Hg (GEM) and gaseous oxidized Hg (GOM) of flue gases from a typical lignite-fired power ...

A comparison of soot, fine particle and sodium emissions for air- and oxy-coal flames, with recycled flue gases of various compositions

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2013
Abstract A 37 kW down fired pilot scale laboratory combustor, specially modified to allow recycle of both dirty and cleaned flue gas, was used to investigate aerosol formation under air- and oxy-coal combustion conditions. The focus was on emission of soot or black carbon, formation of fine and ultra-fine particulate matter, and partitioning and ...

Multipollutant removal of Hg0/SO2/NO from simulated coal-combustion flue gases using metal oxide/mesoporous SiO2 composites

International Journal of Coal Geology, 2017
Abstract This study investigated the multipollutant control effectiveness for Hg 0 /SO 2 /NO using V, Mn, and Cu oxides/mesoporous SiO 2 particulate composites. The presence of metal oxides decreased the specific surface area and pore volume and altered the surface morphology and sizes of the raw SiO 2 particles.

Compositional and Phase Behavior Experimental and Theoretical Work on Hydrocarbon Mixtures and Several Solvents (Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen, and Flue Gases)

Proceedings of SPE/DOE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium, 2000
Abstract Research on compositional and phase behavior of hydrocarbon mixtures and solvents is of great importance to the improvement of oil recovery. Series of experiments consisting of constant composition expansion, multiple-contact processes and constant volume depletion were performed employing three multicomponent hydrocarbon ...
