Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

Factors affecting accurate measurement of fluid borne noise characteristics of fluid power pumps

open access: yesProceedings of the JFPS International Symposium on Fluid Power, 1993
This paper presents analytical analysis and experimental research on the fundamental factors affecting the accurate measurement of fluidborne noise characteristics of fluid power pumps. Particular attention is paid to such factors as fluid transmission line model and parameters affecting pipeline characteristic impedance and propagation coefficient ...

Eccentricity effects on acoustic radiation from a spherical source suspended within a thermoviscous fluid sphere

open access: yes, 2003
Acoustic radiation from a spherical source undergoing angularly periodic axisymmetric harmonic surface vibrations while eccentrically suspended within a thermoviscous fluid sphere, which is immersed in a viscous thermally conducting unbounded fluid ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Actuated rheology of magnetic micro-swimmers suspensions : emergence of motor and brake states

open access: yes, 2018
We study the effect of magnetic field on the rheology of magnetic micro-swimmers suspensions. We use a model of a dilute suspension under simple shear and subjected to a constant magnetic field.

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Seismology of Giant Planets: General Overview and Results from the Kepler K2 Observations of Neptune

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
For this invited contribution, I was asked to give an overview about the application of helio and aster-oseismic techniques to study the interior of giant planets, and to specifically present the recent observations of Neptune by Kepler K2.

Chaotic Dynamics Enhance the Sensitivity of Inner Ear Hair Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hair cells of the auditory and vestibular systems are capable of detecting sounds that induce sub-nanometer vibrations of the hair bundle, below the stochastic noise levels of the surrounding fluid.

Formation of Stable Amorphous Calcium Phosphate and Collagen Assemblies by a Versatile Spray‐Drying Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) microparticles with long‐term and thermal stability are prepared with or without collagen using a scalable one‐pot spray‐drying process. Under simulated physiological conditions, they crystallize into biomimetic bone mineral and, when combined with collagen, form extrudable, fibrillar bone‐like 3D constructs.

A Novel Stealthy Target Detection Based on Stratospheric Balloon-borne Positional Instability due to Random Wind [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A novel detection for stealthy target model F-117A with a higher aspect vision is introduced by using Stratospheric Balloon-borne Bistatic system. The potential problem of proposed scheme is platform instability impacted on the balloon by external wind ...
