Cerebrospinal fluid as a diagnostic body fluid
The American Journal of Medicine, 1983The cerebrospinal fluid is a dynamic, metabolically active substance that has many important functions. It is invaluable as a diagnostic aid in the evaluation of inflammatory conditions, infectious or noninfectious, involving the brain, spinal cord, and meninges. The cerebrospinal fluid may be obtained with relative ease with the use of lumbar puncture,

Fluid–fluid levels in ovarian teratomas
Abdominal Imaging, 2002We evaluated the imaging features of ovarian teratomas containing fluid-fluid levels on ultrasonography (US).We retrospectively reviewed US examinations of two groups with 805 masses (370 benign ovarian teratomas and 435 nonteratomatous adnexal masses). In 27 teratomas and eight nonteratomatous adnexal masses, fluid-fluid levels were detected on US ...

Microgel particles at the fluid–fluid interfaces
Nanoscale, 2013Microgels are colloidal gel particles that consist of chemically cross-linked three-dimensional polymer networks. They are able to dramatically swell or shrink in response to a variety of external stimuli such as temperature, pH, ionic strength, electric field, and enzyme activities.

Fluid-fluid levels in intracranial schwannomas
Australasian Radiology, 1999Intracranial cystic neurogenic tumours constitute an uncommon subset of tumours with a distinct clinico-biological behaviour. The presence of fluid-fluid levels within the tumours, although rare, confirms the cystic nature of the neoplasms. Barring the acoustic schwannomas, cystic cranial nerve schwannomas are exceptionally uncommon.

Multiple vertebral fluid-fluid levels
Skeletal Radiology, 2004We present a case of multiple vertebral metastases, with multiple fluid-fluid levels, from a moderately to poorly differentiated carcinoma of unknown origin. We suggest that fluid-fluid levels in multiple vertebral lesions are highly suggestive of bone metastases.

Triblock Cylinders at Fluid–Fluid Interfaces
Langmuir, 2014We present the interactions and assembly of triblock cylinders at oil-water and air-water interfaces. ABA-type triblock cylinders with different block ratios and surface wettabilities are prepared using a micromolding method. These triblock cylinders at fluid-fluid interfaces induce complex interface deformation depending upon their relative block ...

In this chapter, we consider fluid-fluid two-phase flows under the condition that the interfacial heat transfer between the two fluids is the principal con-vective heat transfer. We also examine the models describing phasic energy conservation for cases where one of the fluids is dispersed within the other.
