Fluid-particle interaction force for polydisperse systems from lattice boltzmann simulations [PDF]
Gas-solid fluidized beds are almost always polydisperse in industrial\ud application. However, to describe the fluid-particle interaction\ud force in models for large-scale gas-solid flow, relations\ud are used which have been derived for monodisperse ...

Two-fluid model for the simultaneous flow of colloids and fluids in porous media [PDF]
To describe the velocities of particles such as ions, protein molecules and colloids dispersed or dissolved in a fluid, it is important to also describe the forces acting on the fluid, including pressure gradients and friction of the fluid with the ...

ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

Charge renormalization and phase separation in colloidal suspensions [PDF]
We explore the effects of counterion condensation on fluid-fluid phase separation in charged colloidal suspensions. It is found that formation of double layers around the colloidal particles stabilizes suspensions against phase separation.

ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Anaesthesia Fluid Detection in 3D Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound Image [PDF]
Ultrasound medical image has disadvantage on displaying anaesthesia fluid due to its low intensity. Using contrast agent to enhance brightness of fluid area makes it possible to extract fluid area from acquired 3D image. This paper proposes

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

The relations between seismically active and electrically conductive zones
The higher electrical conductivity of rocks in the middle and lower parts of the Earth's crust is generally related to the presence of fluids in rocks.

ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.
