Study on vibration-reduction performance of water-lubricated stern bearing with fluid-saturated perforated slab

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2019
[Objectives]As the first element to support the shaft and transfer the vibration, water-lubricated stern bearing becomes an important part of ship shafting.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Dynamic Performance of an Externally Pressurized Porous Thrust Bearing Employing Different Pocket Shape

open access: yesTribology Online, 2020
The use of porous facing/layer in fluid film bearings offers some unique advantages such as self-lubricating properties (acting as lubricant reservoir), compactness, economical over conventional bearing etc.

Fluid - Structure - Soil Interaction of Cylindrical Liquid Storage Tank Subjected to Horizontal Earthquake Loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Shallow founded tanks are strategic structures used to store a variety of kind of liquids. The fluid develops hydrodynamic effect on solid domain of container during an earthquake. This paper provides the theoretical background for numerical model on

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Pressure Distribution in a Squeeze Film Spherical Bearing with Rough Surfaces Lubricated by an Ellis Fluid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2016
In this paper, the solution to a problem of pressure distribution in a curvilinear squeeze film spherical bearing is considered. The equations of motion of an Ellis pseudo-plastic fluid are presented.

Lubrication of asymmetric rollers considering viscosity as function of mean temperature

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2023
A theoretical analysis of an asymmetric roller bearing system with cavitation that is hydro-dynamically lightly loaded and lubricated by a thin, incompressible fluid is presented.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Magnetorheological Damper With Variable Displacement Permanent Magnet for Assisting the Transfer of Load in Lower Limb Exoskeleton

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering
Magnetorheological (MR) fluid exhibits the ability to modulate its shear state through variations in magnetic field intensity, and is widely used for applications requiring damping.

Curvilinear Squeeze Film Bearing with Porous Wall Lubricated by a Rabinowitsch Fluid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2017
The present theoretical analysis is to investigate the effect of non-Newtonian lubricant modelled by a Rabinowitsch fluid on the performance of a curvilinear squeeze film bearing with one porous wall.
