Aggregating fluids under centrifugal fields
Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2023We present a general theoretical framework designed to interpret the effect of centrifugation of ternary fluids that exhibit weak aggregation. The model includes a buoyancy term with thermodynamic description given by a Flory-Huggins model of ternary systems containing a hydrotrope. The system octanol-ethanol-water used as a numerical example is one of

Field equations for charge conducting fluids in electromagnetic fields
Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics, 1995Relativistic thermodynamics of fluid mixtures is extended to include additional independent variables. In this sense, a mixture of a conducting and two electrically charged constituent fluids is considered in presence of an external electromagnetic field.

Cavity field and reaction field in nonpolar fluids
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1990We discuss the cavity field and the reaction field appearing in the Onsager–Böttcher theory of the dielectric constant of a nonpolar fluid. The ratio of both fields to the Maxwell field is determined by computer simulation for a hard-sphere fluid at six volume fractions.

Theory of Ternary Fluids under Centrifugal Fields
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2021In this work, we developed a general theoretical description of ternary solutions of small molecules under a centrifugal field, from which we obtained the centrifugation map (CMap) as a general tool to understand observations or to predict composition profiles in centrifugal fields of arbitrary strength.

Field-induced patterns in confined magnetorheological fluids
Physical Review E, 2010We study the behavior of a magnetorheological fluid droplet confined to a Hele-Shaw cell in the presence of an applied radial magnetic field. Interfacial pattern formation is investigated by considering the competition among capillary, viscoelastic, and magnetic forces.

Field Measurement of Viscosified Fluids
SPE California Regional Meeting, 1988ABSTRACT Oilfield polymers such as HEC (Hydroxyethyl Cellulose) and Xanvis™ (Xanthan Gum) solutions are filtered to remove microgels and minimize formation plugging. Mechanical and hydraulic shearing of the gel alter the rheology of the polymers.

Numerical coarse-graining of fluid field theories
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2010We present a formalism for the systematic numerical coarse-graining of field-theoretic models of fluids that draws upon techniques from both the Monte Carlo renormalization group and particle-based coarse-graining literature. A force-matching technique initially developed for coarse-graining particle-based interaction potentials is adapted to calculate

Field-assisted self-assembly at fluid-fluid interfaces
Self-assembly of particles at fluid-fluid interfaces is a widespread phenomenon. Over time, researchers have explored various intrinsic and extrinsic parameters to modulate and direct these processes. This review article focuses on how external fields, specifically electric and magnetic fields, can control the self-assembly of mesoscopic particles at ...Biswas, Priyanka, Pransu, Gaurav

Coupled Field Synthesis in Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2010In this paper, the actual synthesis of the thermal field is proposed and solved as an inverse problem, considering a fully coupled magnetic-thermal analysis as for the direct problem. Reference is made to an air-cored inductor for magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH).

Nematic fluid structure in wall-field geometry
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004We describe an integral equation method for obtaining the distribution of a nematic fluid near a wall and interacting with a uniform orienting field. Complete density-orientational profiles are calculated for a model nematic with different wall-particle interactions and different orientations of the wall with respect to the field.
