Buoyancy forces in magnetic fluids

The ponderomotive force on a macroscopic body in a magnetic fluid is calculated by a hydrodynamic approach. The resulting equations are generally valid, neither small susceptibilities nor stationarity are assumed. Fluid Forces on Oscillating Cylinders

The paper presents the results of an experimental and analytical investigation of the forced oscillations of a circular cylinder in uniform flow. The transverse force has been decomposed into two components and the appropriate force-transfer coefficients have been determined experimentally through the use of a Fourier averaging techinique.
