Buoyancy forces in magnetic fluids
Zeitschrift fr Physik B Condensed Matter, 1993The ponderomotive force on a macroscopic body in a magnetic fluid is calculated by a hydrodynamic approach. The resulting equations are generally valid, neither small susceptibilities nor stationarity are assumed. The simple and widely-used formulaV(M-Mbg)∇H is recoverd in linear order of χ; magnetostrictive effects are shown to contribute in the order

Fluid Forces on Oscillating Cylinders
Journal of the Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Division, 1978The paper presents the results of an experimental and analytical investigation of the forced oscillations of a circular cylinder in uniform flow. The transverse force has been decomposed into two components and the appropriate force-transfer coefficients have been determined experimentally through the use of a Fourier averaging techinique.

Fluid statics and hydrostatic forces
1996In the previous programme the largest section was devoted to the subject of pressure in fluid at rest. You will remember, no doubt, that the force δF due to pressure p acting on a small area δA is given by δF = p δA.
