Experimental Investigation on the Countercurrent Imbibition Distance and Factors Influencing the Imbibition Recovery of Carbonated Fracturing Fluid

SPE Journal
Summary The integration of fracturing, energy enhancement, and imbibition (IFEI) has proven successful in shale oil development, with one of the keys to enhancing development efficiency lying in improving imbibition effectiveness during the well shut-in phase.

Self-Driven Fluid Imbibition of Salt Solutions into Mesoporous Films

Langmuir
Fluid water imbibition into nanoscale porous materials is important in nature and technology and has been shown to follow Lucas-Washburn behavior. Looking at drop imbibition into nanoscale porous films the imbibition reaches a steady state governed by capillary imbibition and evaporation which is reflected in a constant imbibition length.

Scaling spontaneous imbibition of water data accounting for fluid viscosities

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2010
Spontaneous imbibition (SI) of water into the matrix blocks is regarded as a very important driving mechanism for oil recovery in dual porosity media. Oil recovery from such reservoirs is usually determined by mass transfer function between matrix and fracture.

Imbibition in the flow of two immiscible fluids with magnetic field

The Physics of Fluids, 1974
The physical phenomenon of imbibition due to relative wettability of flowing fluid in double phase flow through homogeneous porous media is discussed. The injected liquid is conducting while the native liquid is nonconducting, and the effect of a variable magnetic field is considered.

Solvability of problems with degeneration: Imbibition of fluid in a porous medium

Differential Equations, 2016
The author considers an initial boundary value problem with degeneration, which models the motion of immiscible fluids in porous media. A class of self-similar solutions is studied with degeneration on the movable boundary and on the entry into the porous layer.

Impact of Fluid pH on Spontaneous Imbibition Behavior in Carbonate Rocks

International Petroleum Technology Conference
Abstract Reactive transport in porous media exhibits multifaceted interactions that are dependent on the matrix and fluid properties, and which ultimately alter these properties. Two key factors in the reactive interactions during transport in permeable rocks is the rock mineralogy and its petrophysical properties. In this work, we study
