Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Implantable Ionic Memristors Based on Natural Polymer Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report an implantable natural polymer‐based ionic memristor composed of hyaluronic acid, chitosan, and PDMS. The device achieved 98.94% accuracy in MNIST classification while reducing training time by 36.8% compared with a conventional artificial neural network (ANN).

Mechanical Programming of PEGDA‐β‐CD Polyrotaxane‐Based Hydrogels via Host–Guest Molecular Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically programmable hydrogel for tissue engineering is developed by modulating the molecular threading density of poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate‐β‐cyclodextrin (PEGDA‐β‐CD) polyrotaxane and combining it with β‐CD‐modified gelatin. The polyrotaxane‐guided transition from disordered pores to laminar microstructures enables precise tuning ...

Bone‐Inspired Recyclable Composites for Damage‐Tolerant Circular Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bone‐inspired architected composites are developed by combining osteon‐like reinforcements with a recyclable Elium thermoplastic matrix. The hierarchical architecture redirects cracks and promotes energy dissipation, while enabling recovery of intact, aligned, load‐bearing reinforcement units that retain their original stiffness, revealing a route ...

Perioperative Fluid Management

Anesthesiology Clinics, 2023
The medical complexity of the geriatric patients has been steadily rising. Still, as outcomes of surgical procedures in the older adults are improving, centers are pushing boundaries. There is also a growing appreciation of the importance of perioperative fluid management on postoperative outcomes, especially in the older adults.

Principles of Fluid Management

Critical Care Clinics, 2015
Fluid therapy is the most common intervention received by acutely ill hospitalized patients; however, important questions on its optimal use remain. Its prescription should be patient and context specific, with clear indications and contradictions, and have the type, dose, and rate specified.
