Early Weak Fault Signal Enhancement and Recognition Method of Rudder Paddle Bearings Based on Parameter Adaptive Stochastic Resonance

open access: yesIEEE Access
Aiming at the problem that the characteristic frequency amplitude of early bearing fault signals is weak and difficult to extract under the strong noise, a vibration signal enhancement method based on maximum overlapping wavelet packet transform (MODWPT)

Aerodynamic performance optimization and unsteady flow field stability analysis of a supercritical carbon dioxide centrifugal compressor with non-uniform blade tip clearance [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Tip leakage flow is a critical factor constraining the efficiency and stability of supercritical carbon dioxide (SCO2) centrifugal compressors. To address this challenge, this study proposes a non-uniform blade tip clearance design and establishes a ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Adaptive Dead Zone Compensation Control Method for Electro-Hydrostatic Actuators Under Low-Speed Conditions

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering
This study proposes an accurate dead zone compensation control method for electro-hydrostatic actuators (EHAs) under low-speed conditions. Specifically, the nonlinear dead zone characteristics under low-speed conditions are summarized based on numerous ...

Voltage-controlled radial wrinkles of a trumpet-like dielectric elastomer structure

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
Wrinkle is usually considered as one failure mode of membrane structure. However, it can also be harnessed in developing smart devices such as dry adhesion tape, diffraction grating, smart window, etc.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Virtual Simulator to Test Suitability of Electro-Hydraulic Energy Converter in Different Types of Working Machines

open access: yes, 2014
A simulation model that describes an energy efficient hybrid log crane with energy recovery capability was developed. The lifting cylinder of the crane is operated by integrated electro-hydraulic energy converter (IEHEC). The system in question is a pump-

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an
