Prediction of fluid velocity slip at solid surfaces

Physical Review E, 2011
The observed flow enhancement in highly confining geometries is believed to be caused by fluid velocity slip at the solid wall surface. Here we present a simple and highly accurate method to predict this slip using equilibrium molecular dynamics. Unlike previous equilibrium molecular dynamics methods, it allows us to directly compute the intrinsic wall-

Sound velocity in a magnetic fluid

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1975
A simple linearized hydrodynamical theory for magnetic fluids in the presence of a strong external magnetic field is presented. The equations are solved for a sound wave propagating at angle phi from the external field direction. The sound velocity is shown to be anisotropic, depending on phi .

Hydromagnetic Stability at a Fluid Velocity Discontinuity between Compressible Fluids

The Physics of Fluids, 1964
Formal conditions are derived for the stability of a velocity discontinuity at a plane interface between two perfectly conducting, inviscid, compressible fluids, in the presence of uniform magnetic fields. Certain special cases, in which the stability conditions can be simplified, are discussed in detail.

The velocity slip of polar fluids

Rheologica Acta, 1975
The theory of polar fluids, briefly reviewed and shown to be identical to the theory of micropolar fluids, is applied to five different viscometric flows and to the flow around a slowly rotating sphere. Comparing theoretical predictions with experimental results for the viscometric flows it is demonstrated that the theory may serve as a model for the ...

Fluid velocity imaging of reservoir core samples

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1994
Experimental definition of fluid flow in heterogeneous reservoir rock requires three dimensional imaging techniques. Fluid velocity mapping at a steady-state flow condition plus oil/water saturation mapping using MRI provides a high resolution view of the process.

Identification in a Laboratory Tunnel to Control Fluid Velocity

2020
In this paper the method of fluid velocity control in the laboratory water tunnel is presented. The water tunnel is designed for measurements of undulating propulsion system for biomimetic underwater vehicle (BUV). The undulating propulsion system consists of the fin, servomotor, power supply and control unit.

MR imaging of model fluid velocity profiles

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1989
A projection MR technique for imaging the velocity profiles of moving fluids has been applied to various steady flow models designed to simulate a variety of flow conditions. From such profiles can be readily deduced peak velocities, volume flow rates, information concerning the degree of flow development, features such as flow separation, and ...

Velocity of sound in fluid media

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1969
Abstract For a substance obeying a more general equation of state than the ideal gas law, a formula of the velocity of sound is given. The particular cases of the velocity of sound at the critical point, at a theoretical state, not a physically existing state where the velocity of sound would become zero, and of a state on the critical isotherm near ...

PRESSURE-VELOCITY COUPLING IN INCOMPRESSIBLE FLUID FLOW

Annual Review of Heat Transfer, 1987
The aim of the paper is to present the more commonly used methods of treating the pressure-velocity coupling in order to predict incompressible flows of practical interest. The ``segregated'' approach is followed and the equations of motion are considered sequentially.
