Fluid viscosity in nanochannels [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
The viscosity of fluids in a nanochannel between flat plates has been investigated by molecular dynamics method. The effective viscosity coefficient was determined using the previously derived from the nonequilibrium statistical theory fluctuation-dissipation theorem.

Numerical Investigation of Influence of In-Situ Stress Ratio, Injection Rate and Fluid Viscosity on Hydraulic Fracture Propagation Using a Distinct Element Approach

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Numerical simulation is very useful for understanding the hydraulic fracturing mechanism. In this paper, we simulate the hydraulic fracturing using the distinct element approach, to investigate the effect of some critical parameters on hydraulic ...

Influences of clean fracturing fluid viscosity and horizontal in-situ stress difference on hydraulic fracture propagation and morphology in coal seam

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology
The viscosity of fracturing fluid and in-situ stress difference are the two important factors that affect the hydraulic fracturing pressure and propagation morphology.

Measuring Hall viscosity of graphene’s electron fluid [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2019
Electron hydrodynamics in graphene Electrons can move through graphene in a manner reminiscent of fluids, if the conditions are right. Two groups studied the nature of this hydrodynamic flow in different regimes (see the Perspective by Lucas). Gallagher et al.

Extracellular fluid viscosity enhances cell migration and cancer dissemination. [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2022
Cells respond to physical stimuli, such as stiffness 1 , fluid shear stress 2 and hydraulic pressure 3 , 4 . Extracellular fluid viscosity is a key physical cue that varies under physiological and pathological conditions, such as cancer 5 .

Extracellular fluid viscosity regulates human mesenchymal stem cell lineage and function. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Adv
Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) respond to mechanical stimuli, including stiffness and viscoelasticity. To date, it is unknown how extracellular fluid viscosity affects hMSC function on substrates of different stiffness and viscoelasticity.

Viscosity of Quantum Hall Fluids [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1995
The viscosity of quantum fluids with an energy gap at zero temperature is non-dissipative and is related to the adiabatic curvature on the space of flat background metrics (which plays the role of the parameter space). For a quantum Hall fluid on two dimensional tori this viscosity is computed.

Effect of Fluid Viscosity on Fault Reactivation and Coseismic Weakening

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2020
High‐viscosity fluids are often used during hydraulic fracking operations in georeservoirs. Here we performed dedicated experiments to study the influence of fluid viscosity on fault reactivation and associated induced earthquakes.

Bulk viscosity of molecular fluids [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2018
The bulk viscosity of molecular models of gases and liquids is determined by molecular simulations as a combination of a dilute gas contribution, arising due to the relaxation of internal degrees of freedom, and a configurational contribution, due to the presence of intermolecular interactions.
