Continuous Sorption and Desorption of Organic Sorbent Powder in Two Connected Fluidized Beds

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2012
A continuous circulating of sorbent powder for sorption and desorption process in two connected fluidized beds has been developed. Two fluidized beds are arranged next to each other and connected by spiral tubes.

Numerical Studies on Teeter Bed Separator for Particle Separation

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Teeter Bed Separators (TBS) are liquid–solid fluidized beds that are widely used in separation of coarse particles in coal mining industry. The coal particles settle in the self-generating medium bed resulting in separation according to density.

Gas dispersion and bubble-to-emulsion phase mass exchange in a gas-solid bubbling fluidized bed: a computational and experimental study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Knowledge of gas dispersion and mass exchange between the bubble and the emulsion phases is essential for a correct prediction of the performance of fluidized beds, particularly when catalytic reactions take place.

Coacervates Made of Elastin‐Like Polypeptides Fused with Melanocyte‐Stimulating Hormone and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein Enhance Skin Wound Healing in Spinal Cord‐Injured Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pressure skin wounds are frequent complications after spinal cord injury (SCI), with impaired healing due to vascular and immune deficits. Elastin‐like polypeptides (ELP) fused to α‐MSH (MSH‐ELP) or MCP‐1 (MCP‐ELP) are developed and tested on these wounds. The resulting nanoparticles are non‐toxic and bioactive, and they enhance macrophage recruitment,

Prediction of Sorption Processes Using the Deep Learning Methods (Long Short-Term Memory)

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The paper introduces the artificial intelligence (AI) approach for modeling fluidized adsorption beds. The idea of fluidized bed application allows a significantly increased heat transfer coefficient between adsorption bed and the surface of a heat ...

Fire fighting robot [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Fire-fighting is an important but dangerous occupation. A fire-fighter must be able to put out fire quickly and safely. This is a common way to prevent fatalities and further damages.

Development of a Synthetic Hydrogel to Foster Microvascularization of an Endometriosis Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ascent of novel alternative methods in drug development spotlights the dual needs for improved biological fidelity to in vivo, along with reproducibility, especially in regulatory applications. The need for pre‐clinical models of patient‐derived endometriosis lesions motivates the development of a vascularizable, completely synthetic ...

Wound Geometry Determines Whether Aligned‐Fiber Scaffolds Accelerate or Impede Diabetic Wound Healing: A Biased Random Walk Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Wound closure is governed by geometry‐orientation coupling: aligned fibers speed migration along their axis but hinder perpendicular advance. In vivo diabetic wound experiments with composition‐matched fibrin, combined with an anisotropic diffusion (biased random‐walk) model, quantify this trade‐off and generate a healing landscape.
