Shielding designing of 241Am-Be neutron source housing experiment and Monte Carlo simulation

open access: yesRadiation Protection and Environment, 2020
Shielding of a neutron source housing for 1 Ci 241Am-Be source has been designed and fabricated based on the simulation carried out using Monte Carlo code FLUKA. Neutron and photon dose equivalent rates at the surface and at 1 m distance from the surface

Hydrophobic MFI‐Type Zeolites via Alkali‐Cation‐Induced Defect Healing: Implications for Adsorbent and Catalyst Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Sub‐stoichiometric amounts of Na+ or K+ enhance defect healing during Silicalite‐1 (MFI) and TS‐1 calcination by promoting Si–O–Si annealing and healing framework vacancies. The resulting defect‐free zeolites are more hydrophobic and show improved butanol/water separation and improved activity and selectivity in the epoxidation of 1‐hexene, offering a ...

Development of a dose estimation code for BNCT with GPU accelerated Monte Carlo and collapsed cone Convolution method

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2022
A new method of dose calculation algorithm, called GPU-accelerated Monte Carlo and collapsed cone Convolution (GMCC) was developed to improve the calculation speed of BNCT treatment planning system. The GPU-accelerated Monte Carlo routine in GMCC is used

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.

Optical design of beam for proton therapy energy selection system based on CYCIAE-230 superconducting cyclotron

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundThe energy selection system (ESS) is a key part of the cyclotron-based proton therapy facility. In addition to regulating the energy of the fixed-energy proton beam generated by the cyclotron to match the depth of the tumor, the other main role

FLAIR3 – recasting simulation experiences with the Advanced Interface for FLUKA and other Monte Carlo codes [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Particle tracking Monte Carlo codes are complicated programs to use, making them error prone for the end user. To address this problem, and simplify the use of (initially) FLUKA, Flair was born in late 2006. Over the course of time, Flair evolved so much
