Flume Experiment Evaluating Shear Stresses Under Turbulent Flowing Conditions
Shear stresses are produced when a fluid is flowing along a solid boundary layer. Shear stress measurements can be used to evaluate sediment and soil erosion transportation in natural bodies of water, like rivers. With this information, engineers improve

Data concerning the hydrodynamic advantages of arching sea stars modeled in a hydraulics flume.
Arched and flat model sea stars were used in a recirculating flow hydraulics flume to assess flow velocities. Methods employed were: using a fluorometer to detect injected rhodamine dye, acoustic Doppler velocimeter to detect mean and shear velocities to

In submerged conditions groynes add resistance to a river, thereby increasing the water levels for a particular discharge. Groynes are modelled in two ways, either they are included in the bed topography when the grid resolution is sufficiently high or ...

Flume Experiment on Step-Pool Mountain Streams
Steps and pools ...

Transverse bed slope experiments in an annular flume
Large scale morphology, in particular bar dimensions and bifurcation dynamics, are greatly affected by the deflection of sediment transport on transverse bed slopes due to gravity and by helical flows. However, existing transverse bed slope predictors are based on a small set of experiments with a minor range of flow conditions and sediment sizes, and ...
