Noninnocent Azo-Aromatic Cobalt(II)-Catalyzed sp3 C-H Alkylation of Fluorenes with Alcohols.

Journal of Organic Chemistry
Herein, employing well-defined redox noninnocent cobalt(II) complexes an efficient sp3 C-H alkylation of fluorenes using alcohols as alkylating agents to result in alkylated fluorenes is reported.

TFA-Promoted Cascade Sulfonylation/Rearrangement/Cyclization of 1,5-Diynols and Sodium Sulfinates to Construct Sulfonylated Benzo[b]fluorenes.

Journal of Organic Chemistry
A novel conversion of 1,5-diynols into sulfonylated benzo[b]fluorenes is reported by a TFA-promoted cascade cyclization with sodium sulfinates under mild conditions.

Bis-(Fluorene)-Embedded Hexaphyrins

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2022
The polyaromatic hydrocarbon containing expanded porphyrins, bis-(fluorene)-embedded hexaphyrins, were synthesized by condensing fluorene-based tripyrrane with pentafluorobenzaldehyde in CH2Cl2 in the presence of 1 equiv of BF3·OEt2 under an inert atmosphere followed by oxidation with DDQ in open air at room temperature. The reaction worked only when 1

Enynone-enabled migratory insertion and Schmittel cyclization cascade for the synthesis of furan-fused fluorenes

Organic Chemistry Frontiers, 2019
A new method for the synthesis of furan-/benzo-fused fluorenes through copper(i)-catalyzed coupling of conjugated enynones or α-diazocarbonyl compounds with dialkynylbenzenes has been developed.

Vapor pressure measurements on fluorene and methyl-fluorenes

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 2004
Vapor pressures, molar enthalpies of sublimation, and molar enthalpies of vaporization of fluorene, 9-methyl-fluorene, and 1-methyl-fluorene have been determined by the transpiration method. Results were tested for internal consistency and compared with available literature data.

Anisotropic electron mobility in fluorene-PPV and fluorene-MEH-PPV

Molecular Physics, 2016
ABSTRACTPolyfluorene copolymers are attractive semiconductor materials, in particular for applications in the organic electronics field. They are versatile to be chemically modified and allow a tuning of the emission to cover the entire visible spectrum.

Mutagenicity of methylated fluorenes and benzofluorenes

Mutation Research Letters, 1981
Methylated fluorenes were assayed for mutagenic activity towards Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and TA100. None of these methylfluorenes were mutagenic in the absence of metabolic activation. In the presence of 9000 X g supernatant from Aroclor-induced rats, 9-methylfluorene and 1,9-dimethylfluorene were active towards TA98 and TA100.
