Tetrahedral Framework Nucleic Acid‐Based Delivery of DJ‐1‐saRNA Prevent Retinal Ischaemia–Reperfusion Injury via Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Illustration of the preparation of tFNAs‐DJ‐1 saRNAs complex and its inhibitory effects on ferroptosis in R28 and retina. ABSTRACT Retinal ischaemia/reperfusion injury (RI/RI) is the primary pathophysiological mechanism underlying retinal ischaemic diseases, potentially resulting in significant and irreversible visual impairment.

Dispensed Transformer Network for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Accurate segmentation is a crucial step in medical image analysis and applying supervised machine learning to segment the organs or lesions has been substantiated effective. However, it is costly to perform data annotation that provides ground truth labels for training the supervised algorithms, and the high variance of data that comes from different ...

YY2 mediates transcriptional repression of PHGDH and expedites oxidative stress in retinal pigment epithelial cells in diabetic retinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
The expression of YY2 was significantly elevated in diabetic retinopathy, and YY2 blocked the serine synthesis pathway in retinal epithelial cells by inhibiting the transcriptional expression of PHGDH, thereby inducing the progression of oxidative stress and ferroptosis in the cells.

Automatic Detection of Microaneurysms in OCT Images Using Bag of Features [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) caused by diabetes occurs as a result of changes in the retinal vessels and causes visual impairment. Microaneurysms (MAs) are the early clinical signs of DR, whose timely diagnosis can help detecting DR in the early stages of its development.

Deep Angiogram: Trivializing Retinal Vessel Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesIn Medical Imaging 2023: Image Processing, vol. 12464, pp. 656-660. SPIE, 2023, 2023
Among the research efforts to segment the retinal vasculature from fundus images, deep learning models consistently achieve superior performance. However, this data-driven approach is very sensitive to domain shifts. For fundus images, such data distribution changes can easily be caused by variations in illumination conditions as well as the presence ...

Characterization of oral biomarkers during early healing at augmented dental implant sites

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Dental implants treated with a connective tissue graft, either with coronally advanced flap or with tunnel technique, showed a different expression of VEGF and TIMP‐2. The expression of angiogenic biomarkers at 1 week was correlated to the ultrasonographic tissue perfusion of the graft.

Real‐time ancillary diagnostics for intraoperative assessment of intestinal viability in horses–looking for answers across species

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Clinical intestinal viability assessment is associated with significant limitations, and there is an undisputable need for ancillary diagnostics during colic surgery. Human and companion animal surgeons struggle with similar intraoperative issues, yet there is little exchange between specialists.
