The use of protoporphyrin IX fluorescence imaging in skin tumors is limited by the complexity of light propagation in tissues. A non-invasive scat- tering anisotropy test (comparison of the fluorescence pattern of a tumor with that of a point source ...

Past, Present and Future of UHECR Observations
Great advances have been made in the study of ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECR) in the past two decades. These include the discovery of the spectral cut-off near 5 x 10^19 eV and complex structure at lower energies, as well as increasingly precise ...

Cosmic Rays from the Ankle to the Cut-Off [PDF]
Recent advances in measuring and interpreting cosmic rays from the spectral ankle to the highest energies are briefly reviewed. The prime question at the highest energies is about the origin of the flux suppression observed at E ~ 4x10^{19} eV.

Unprecedented Spin‐Lifetime of Itinerant Electrons in Natural Graphite Crystals
Graphite exhibits extraordinary spintronic potential, with electron spin lifetimes reaching 1,000 ns at room temperature ‐ over 100 times longer than graphene‐based devices. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy reveals strong anisotropy: out‐of‐plane spins live 50 times longer than their in‐plane counterparts.

Fluorescence anisotropy of oligomeric proteins
Previous studies of protein oligomerization using time‐resolved fluorescence anisotropy assumed a single fixed probe per oligomeric complex and an identical probe orientation in complexes of different stoichiometry. However, an oligomer consisting of “n” singly labeled monomers must necessarily have “n” probes.

Bioinspired bromination of a resilin‐derived peptide enables the fabrication of electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds that uniquely combine strain‐stiffening elasticity, proteolytic stability, and antioxidant functionality. These brominated peptide–gelatin hybrids mimic the extensibility of natural elastomers, demonstrating tunable mechanical resilience ...

An insight into polarization states of solid-state organic lasers
The polarization states of lasers are crucial issues both for practical applications and fundamental research. In general, they depend in a combined manner on the properties of the gain material and on the structure of the electromagnetic modes.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

The use of NADH anisotropy to investigate mitochondrial cristae alignment
Life may be expressed as the flow of electrons, protons, and other ions, resulting in large potential difference. It is also highly photo-sensitive, as a large proportion of the redox capable molecules it relies on are chromophoric. It is thus suggestive
